Vibes Promotion Show with DrmZ

If you like the foundation of reggae music especially the rockers style this Vibes Promotion Show is for you! The first 30 minutes are dedicated to the often overlooked Phase One label. Founded in the late 70′s by Roy Francis – owner of legendary Mixing Lab Studio – it released hit songs like The Chantells “Waiting In The Park”. In 2002 Motion records released the 2xVinyl compilation “We Are Getting Bad – The Sound Of Phase One”. It features the singers and rare deejay versions alongside dub versions of Phase One hits. If you don´t have it in your collection – you should get it! The Phase One section ends with one of my favourite Heptones tunes “Decievers”.
The second part of the show features more 70s and 80s reggae from singers like Delroy Wilson, Horace Andy and Alton Ellis and deejay tunes from Dennis Alcapone, Lee Perry, Eek-A-Mouse and Charlie Chaplin.
In the middle of all the jamaican legends hides a tune from Berlin’s jazz-rocksteady-veterans Wood In The Fire with their interpretation of Coxone Dodd’s Smile Riddim. Wood In Di Fire played a monthly gig at Schokoladen in Berlin for almost 10 years. For me and for other vintage reggae and rocksteady lovers a must-go concert all the years. After the Tacheles now the Schokoladen is being closed like the other squatted houses in Berlin. With this location another piece of club culture in Berlin gets slaughtered.
